After several misguided rumors, BMW announced today on April 1 that a supercar is coming. Announced earlier by BMW CEO Franciscus van Meel, the car will be called BMW M9 and it will feature a mix of hybrid, carbon fiber reinforced plastic and electric technology, all paired up with a 3.2 liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline-six engine.

BMW is one of the best-known manufacturers in the World so you would expect them to build very impressive cars. For the most part, this is true, especially with their four-door sedans which are among the fastest in the World. However, they don’t have any supercar on the market which is a bit unusual considering that most other manufacturers do. In order to change that, a new car is in the works with the 2017 BMW M9 Concept which has been rumored ever since the start of 2015. This car would make use of the same carbon fiber chassis as the i8 but instead of the hybrid powertrain, it would get a more impressive petrol engine.

Although we are still years off from seeing the BMW i8 concept we continuously drool over, it’s never too early to start dreaming over the possibility of BMW 9 series.

While there is no such thing yet, the folks at Radion Design have decided to use their creative abilities to create a concept for the BMW M9. The end result is nothing short of astonishing, and we would definitely be the first on the waiting list for one of these. That is, if it ever actually became a reality. The vehicle sports a futuristic look like that almost reminds us of the Fisker Karma, and that’s a good thing.

Like everything else release date and the price of the new BMW M9 concept is still kept a top secret. With the amount thought and effort that went into the design of the M9, it’ll have a price tag to match. Rumours say the price will be around $300,000 USD to $500,000 USD.
